Annaliese recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what her DDO buddy had to say! "Annaliese (formerly known as Chopper) was perfection on our Dogs Day Out this weekend! We got to enjoy the Sweetwater Court Private Dog Playground and Gardens where she leisurely explored the yard and did some running. She chewed on a Nylabone for a bit but didn't seem too interested in playing fetch. She spent a lot of time just hanging out right next to me. Also, we hung out inside a home where she sat on my lap for the majority of the time. -Annaliese is an 11 month old American Pit Bull Terrier, spayed female, 49.5 lbs, and HW negative -Affectionate, sweet, and gentle, didn't hear her bark once at anything even when she saw another dog at the fence near the SniffSpot -Rides wonderfully in the car but a little unsure about getting in and out of the car-Had a bath and did well, beautiful light brown coat and light brown eyes-Very gentle taking treats -Liked playing with toys but not an aggressive chewer -Good walker, some initial pulling right out of the gate but didn't last long-Excellent inside home, no accidents Come check Annaliese out for foster or adoption at the Guilford County Animal Services! She is an amazing girl and would love to be someone's forever cuddle buddy." 2nd DDO:"Annaliese is an 11 month old female American Pit Bull Terrier, spayed, 49.5 lbs, HW negative, and whole lotta love in a compact package! She is SO happy to get out in the world and walks beautifully on a leash. If you're looking to get your daily steps in, she's your girl! We easily cleared 4 miles at a good pace, and she reminded me what a joy it is to stop and enjoy the scenery. Make sure to listen out for her cute piggy-grunts as she takes in every smell on her walk. Even with her Big Puppy Energy, she is still calm, gentle with taking treats, affectionate with people, not barky, and super great in the car (she just needs an extra boost to get in and out). In the few hours we had together, she was very receptive to learning how to sit on command (though having a treat in hand doesn't hurt). Out in public, she seemed unbothered by other dogs, but it's always best to proceed with caution. Annaliese is a little timid at times, so her human has to be her advocate, consider her best interests, and take things slow. We all need a pep talk sometimes! She's also got great potential as a running partner! With some practice and guidance, Annaliese will keep your pace and perhaps help get some extra miles under your belt. Annaliese is convinced she's a lapdog, so all she wants after a good walk is a snuggle and nap! She also loves a good booty scratch and bully rub. This babygirl needs a family or person who will give her the time and attention she deserves. With a little patience, training, and love, she will blossom into the queen she's meant to be!" Annaliese can be safely walked in a neighborhood with other dogs around, but may be selective of which dogs she wants in her company. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
