Bear is a SWEET almost 2 year old mini poodle who is yet another victim of the cruel and greedy puppy mill and pet shop industry. She was shipped from a mill in Ohio to a local NJ pet store as a young puppy (while her parents remained behind in cages to be bred over and over again). And there in that pet shop she sat until she was a year old. Smaller, younger puppies came and were sold as the store raked in thousands in profits, but with designer mixed breed doodles and toy breeds more in favor, this purebred mini poodle who grew to about 16lbs full grown kept being passed by. She missed out on her whole puppyhood- no family, walks or playtime in a yard, no love. Just spinning and pacing in a small cage, having no choice but to eat, sleep, and relieve herself in the same small area month after month. Finally, when the store discounted her and gave up on trying to make a bigger profit, she was purchased by a nice family who tried their hardest, but weren't expecting the challenges of trying to train and housebreak a dog who had no idea how to act in a home. Bear is a complete sweetheart who loves people and craves attention, but doesn't always know how to go about getting it or what to do with herself. When she gets excited or anxious she spins in circles- even though she's finally free from that little pet store cage, in her mind she's still there. She loves other dogs and gets excited to greet and play with them, and we think a home with a compatible dog or even a little pack of dogs would be ideal to help her learn how to be a real dog. Housebreaking will be a challenge, and if not being to be flawlessly trained within a few months is a dealbreaker then she's not the dog for you. She's learning to enjoy going for walks and excitedly greets everyone she meets, human and dog, and is going to be a really fun, loyal little velcro dog for someone looking for a relationship of mutual unconditional love and adoration.
