#### Look at this face and those eyes! She could not be more beautiful! Tipping the scales at 26 pounds, Cleo is a 2 year old Miniature Australian Shepherd Mix. Cleo loves other dogs and is comforted by their presence. Once she gets to know a dog, she becomes quite playful with them! She requires a home with another confident dog to help her transition into home life and feel safe. Cleo is still learning that humans aren't scary. She readily approaches people for treats, but she is very skittish and easily startled by movements or noises. She is not yet comfortable being pet, but our behavior team is working with her to create a positive association with being touched. She takes time to feel comfortable around people, but once she does, you have a loyal best friend for life! Cleo wiggles her butt and squeals excitedly when she sees her closest human friends. She even plays with her favorite humans outside: play bowing, zooming, and romping all around with a smile on her face! She wants to be near her people all the time, and can often be seen following her human friends around outside or snoozing peacefully beside them. This sweet girl is so ready to be around her forever family.Cleo has recently learned how to walk on a leash and has been contently sniffing and exploring the outside world. With practice and the help of a confident canine sibling, we think she could blossom into a wonderful hiking buddy. She will still require a home with a 6ft fence to keep her safe as she can be a flight risk when she is spooked. Cleo needs a patient and calm adult-only household who will allow her to settle in at her own pace. She is very cautious but has made significant progress in the last few months. We are confident she will continue to blossom in her perfect home. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
