Derby puts the “d” into delightful. At 3 months of age, he’s 20 pounds of sweetness, sociability and smarts! Percolating with plentiful puppy energy – playing one moment, napping the next – he’s friendly and easygoing, and loves nothing more than giving his foster parents hugs and kisses and snuggling in their necks. Unless it’s to rest his head on them, roll over for belly rubs and do his Derby version of the ranger crawl. Brimful of curiosity, he gets along wonderfully with the four resident dogs of various ages and sizes, following them around and learning essential life lessons from the older males. Motivated by food, love and toys, he loves ropes, bones, sticks and stuffed animals, accepts all treats gently, is currently working on his basic commands and learning about boundaries. Eating and sleeping through the night in his crate, Derby is also diligently at work on his house-training and puppy manners, but he hasn’t been walked since he’s not yet fully vaccinated. Now, with his whole life to live, Derby will delight any loving home (with or without other dogs and/or dog-savvy children) that will perfect his manners, complete his training, including his commands, and share in his marvelous journey to maturity. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) . If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $450 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit) . Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
