Description:

** $295 in pledges to the rescue that pulls ****NEW VIDEO** Jax ACCT-A-161770 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Jax must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, FOSTER, or RESCUE PARTNER by Sunday, May 12th by 10:00 am. Should Jax's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Meet Jax, a lovable pup with a heart of gold and a playful spirit! Jax came to ACCT on 4/12 after he was found as a stray. His finder noted him to be friendly, cuddly, and playful. Jax is a pro with his leash manners, making it easy for his shelter friends to slip on his leash and take him outside. Once he's out, Jax is a confident and outgoing pup. He loves attention and will spread joy wherever he goes. With his winning personality and playful nature, Jax is sure to bring endless love and laughter to his new people. Jax has excelled at his dog meets at the shelter, but has shown some prey drive so he would do best in a cat free home. If you're ready to welcome a loyal and adventurous dog into your life, look no further than Jax. He's a bit nervous walking through the kennels and is a bit lowered and looks around constantly. Once outside he gains so much confidence and solicits attention regularly. We did a drop leash meet with Parker, and they got along great! Jax is a mix of a rough and rowdy player and a push and pull, and loves tackling and is tolerant of mouthing as well. Parker loves to play chase, but Jax does seem to have a bit of a prey drive and would begin growling and get increasingly fixated until he stopped. 4/16 per staff: First time meeting Jax today! Got him out for some fresh air, I leashed him with no issues. He seemed eager to come out. Walks really great on the leash, often looking back/over at me for reassurance. He is patient at doorways. Seems potty trained. A very friendly boy who loves pets and laying over your lap! He was snatchy with treats and a little bit jumpy but he easily redirects. Didn't seem interested in the tennis balls or tug rope in the yard just wanted to follow me around and when I sat on the bench he put his paws over my lap and gave me kisses! He saw another dog go by and seemed interested/playful. Returned to kennel without issue! Very good boy, who likely just needs some obedience training 4/15 per staff: Sweet boy Jax got out for some quality time today! He greeted with soft eyes and a wagging tail, and was a little hesitant of the leash going over his head, but he ultimately allowed it and came right out. On our way out of the building a volunteer said hi to Jax. He greeted her with a tucked tail, ears pinned back, and a low, submissive body. He accepted some pets and love from her before we continued on. Once we got going again his tail came back out and he bounced around happily. He's nervous with new people, but once you have his trust you have a best friend for life. Out in the yard Jax wasn't super interested in any toys, he just wanted love and attention. He stays close and leans into you for attention. One time he even pawed at me, which was very endearing. I tried running around to get him to play, and he was scared of me moving so suddenly at first, but I crouched down a bit an encouraged him to chase me, and he did for a bit! After our mini play session I sat down with Jax and he put his front two paws in my lap and just leaned in. We stayed like that for several minutes, just cuddling and hanging out. Jax is the sweetest dog on the planet. He wants nothing but love and wants to give nothing but love. He showered me with kisses and would lean in to me to say thank you for the love. He's just a lover boy!! When it was time to go inside Jax still wanted to cuddle and hang out, but still walked nicely with me back to kennel. He returned without issue but looked back at me so sadly once he was in! Jax is a gem of a dog, who will bring happiness and love to anyone who gives him the chance! 4/14 per volunteer: Jax is a young and excitable boy. He doesn't know how to play with balls and was getting too rowdy in the run so we did a long walk instead. For such an energetic dog his leash manners are very good. However he does zig zag a lot because he's very alert when in a new area. Jax was nervous in the cemetery and stayed close to me for comfort. Other people wanted to meet him but I noticed he was doing some slight guarding of me (standing in front with tense body and hard eye contact on passerby's) so I did not allow them to approach. We stopped a few times to give him some reassuring pets, which did help. He is SO soft. On the way back Jax saw his staff member friend and was beside himself with joy. So he is fine with people he knows. 4/12 per staff- Food motivated, likes cream cheese. Very friendly and sweet, likes being pet. A little shy, but warms up quick. Did well with minimal handling and restraint for vaccinations/intake (only needed cream cheese as a distraction). Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal.
