She's all about taking it easy, enjoying daytime naps and snuggling up for some quality petting sessions. She's a pro when it comes to bathroom breaks - no accidents on her watch! Now, Nieema's got a quirky side too. She's got this thing for burying her bones in her blankets, which never fails to make her foster mom smile. Nieema is the definition of a wonderful companion. Foster notes: Niemma continues to be such a well-mannered girl who loves long walks, drinking big gulps of her water, and hiding her bones under the blankets in her room. She is energetic but doesn't pull on the leash on her walks, tolerates other dogs who bark at her very well (she isn't reactive), loves to get pets from anyone who sees her, and snoozes most of the day when she isn't out walking. She is still recovering from a doggie cold but is getting better every day and is very eager to explore her foster home and get to know her foster brother. She is treat motivated and does a perfect sit and paw - even out on her walks. Anyone who meets her talks about how beautiful her light gray coat is and how sweet she is with new people. She is a love bug! 5/8/2 foster notes: She is such a sweet and well-mannered girl who loves to get pets when we're hanging out inside and loves to go on a nice sunny walk during the day. So far, she has reacted well to my dog in passing and has not been reactive to other dogs on the leash. She is still suffering from a cold, which is slowing her down, but she seems pretty chill generally and likes to take naps during the day. She appears to be completely housebroken and has relieved herself immediately every time we go out to use the bathroom. No accidents yet.We had some time to bond last night and she just wanted me to pet her face and shake her paw which she kept putting on me. She also seems quite friendly with other people on our walks.So far her only funny habit is that she likes to bury the bones I give her to chew on in her blankets. No destructive behavior otherwise. She is a pretty perfect girl who just wants some love! 4/27/24 short term foster notes: Nieema on a weekend visit. She's such a sweet girl, happy on walks around the neighborhood, chilling out in the yard, and hanging out with us in the evening. 4/19/24 Per staff: Saw a volunteer trying to convince Niemma to go back to her kennel but she was putting on the brakes. Told them she could go to my office, as per volunteers she's very housetrained. 4/15/24 Per staff: Nieema got out for some fresh air today! In kennel she hopped up on the door with a wagging tail and soft eyes. She got down once I started opening the door and waited nicely to be leashed before coming out. When we got outside Nieema went potty immediately. I think she's probably house trained! In the yard Nieema went potty some more and then pressed her body against my legs looking for some love. She soaked up some all over pets before I got her to start playing with me. Nieema would chase some tennis balls but never brought one back. She also seemed to like a tug rope, but didn't really play tug. She mouthed it while I held it but never really pulled or tugged back with it. She just happily chomped on it while I swung it around for her! Nieema found a half destroyed stuffed toy that she finished off. I'm sure she'd like paper towel rolls and other destroy-able enrichment and toys! After she got some energy out she came over looking for some pets and attention. Nieema is such a sweet girl! She didn't demand bark at me today, so I must've met all her needs! After about 15 minutes of outside playing time Nieema was ready to go back in, and stood by the gate panting and looking back at me expectantly. She returned to kennel like a perfect gentle-lady! Medical notes:4/17/24 per medical: Nieema was diagnosed with a URI. Respiratory PCR test results indicated that she was positive for coronavirus and Canine Adenovirus Type 2 - but negative for pneumovirus. 4/15/24 per medical: During a checkup staff noted that Nieema was exhibiting heightened signs of shelter stress and was prescribed trazodone.
