Meet Snowy! This unique looking gal was surrendered to our rescue partner from a hoarding case when they thankfully realized they had too many animals. Not sure if her head is too small for her body, or her body is too big for her head... But she looks slightly more proportional in person and sure is cute with those floppy ears! Snowy is a bit shy at first, having come from a home where she was not properly socialized. She warms up with treats and patience! From her amazing foster: "This beautiful girl has come such a long way, it's hard to believe this is the same dog. She arrived in full panic flight mode. Now she comes and asks for snuggles any chance she gets. She's incredibly loving and affectionate, snuggling on the couch, but also happy to chill in a bed nearby. She's 100% potty trained, not a single accident, she uses the dog door, LOVES the yard, zooming and rolling around in the grass, it's her happy place. I was nervous she would be a flight risk taking her for a walk, but we finally went for it and she was an absolute rockstar yesterday, loose leash and instinctively heeling the whole time. Still a bit skittish around things like bikes on the path but she recovers quickly. We even stopped at a local brewery and she gave sniffs and took treats from a few strangers, which is huge progress. She's very comfortable around other dogs, but very wary of new people. She's going to be an amazing companion for someone who is calm and patient and gives her time to come out of her shell and feel safe. As such, I think a household with young kids is probably not a great fit, she doesn't love sudden movements or feeling cornered. She's great with dogs her size or smaller, doesn't really play but likes running and being part of the pack. She was nervous of our bigger dog at first but after a couple of days of slow exposure, she got over it and now they are zoom buddies in the yard, totally fine. I suspect she would be fine with cats, I think she would just ignore them. She's a very low maintenance girl who just wants love and safety and she will thrive."
