Because of this, he does need a slower introduction to resident pets and some men may frighten him at first. He does get along well with my two small resident dogs and cat but may want to be the alpha dog of the house. Bacon loves to go on walks but most of all to snuggle with his person. He is friendly with people in general but again does have reactions to other dogs at first. We have been working on this and I have seen some improvements but Bacon will need continued work to help him. 06/02/2024 Foster Feedback: Bacon is a two-and-a-half year old 20 pound yorkie mix. He might be part border collie. What an interesting combo! Bacon has been with us for just about a week and he is ready for a quiet and chill place to call home. Bacon is an expert cuddle bug and would love to be your lap dog all day long. He loves sitting on the couch with us while we watch movies. He is very content to take an afternoon nap and just relax. He loves sleeping in bed, and will sleep at your feet, or closer up if you let him. He gently nudges our hands to let us know he’d like some pets and attention. He wants to be where the people are and will follow you around the house just checking on everything going on. He has a great balance of being able to relax, but he’s also up for a good time! He does well on walks and walks nicely on a leash. He does get spooked by loud noises, some men, and also other dogs. He would benefit from continued training on helping him to refocus and not fixate on these distractions. Bacon is potty trained and does great with the routine in our house. Sometimes when we let him out, he doesn’t go to the bathroom, but he just doesn’t mind holding it for a while. He is not used to a kennel yet but would probably free roam ok. Or do well limiting him to a certain part of the house. He is startled by loud voices and sudden noises. Because of this, he would do best in an adult-only home or a home with older and considerate children. Bacon is great with my husband and has bonded with him, but he takes a while to warm up to most men. He is also not comfortable around larger dogs. We have two pups that are smaller than Bacon, and he does pretty well with them. Sometimes he can be a little too interested in our female chihuahua, but he is working on redirecting and leaving her be. He could be ok with a friend his size, or I think he would also love having all the attention in a household! He loves being outside with us. He really enjoys chilling on the deck, lounging on a chair, or watching the birds. We have a fenced in backyard where he loves to zoom around when he’s got a burst of energy. Yesterday I was planting flowers in the front yard and had Bacon on a lead. He fell asleep in the grass while I was finishing up my planting. He was very content just being where I was.
