Scooter is part of our "Forever Foster" program: Canine Castaways believes that there is a home for every dog we rescue and we are willing to wait to find it. However, every now and then certain dogs have ongoing medical expenses that make adoption more difficult. These dogs have a very special place in our hearts and still deserve a chance at happiness. We do not want the fear of vet bills to get in their way so we have established our "Forever Foster" program which pays for their ongoing medical care at our vet in Arcadia. Our "Forever Foster" dogs are looking for their "human heroes" who are not afraid to open their hearts to show them love. NAME: Scooter BREED: Schnauzer/Dachshund mix SEX: Male COLOR: gray/black AGE: 2 yrs as of Jan 2024 WEIGHT: 11 lbs FOSTERED BY: LOCATED IN: NOTES FROM FOSTER FAMILY: Scooter came to us after being hit by a car. Unfortunately, one leg had to be amputated and the other doesn't work. He does great in his "drag bag" or wheelchair and is super sweet and is food motivated. He can be bossy with certain dogs so he would do fine as an only dog or with another that is a good match. Due to his injuries, we would consider someone that lives close to Arcadia and he could be forever foster meaning that he could come to our vet for all needs and the vet care would be paid for by the rescue. He can also be adopted out if someone lives farther away or would prefer to do a direct adoption. He doesn’t have any other health issues other than the paralyzed back end. He needs to find a person/family to call his own. He is currently at our shelter waiting for a foster or forever home and would love to meet you!
