Gertie is a little pittie mix who will capture your heart with her underbite and puppy head tilts. She loves other dogs and has learned to respect the cats in her foster home. She loves her foster family as well. She greets each day with a happy heart and the innocent exuberance of a young puppy. She never meets a stranger and enjoys curling with her foster dad at night to watch tv. She plays hard with her doggy friends—runs in the pasture, swims in the pond, chases the ball, etc.—and sleeps hard at the end of the day. In fact, she puts herself to sleep for naps and at night! She adores a car ride and sits politely in her foster mom’s lap to look out the window. She will be a medium size dog when fully grown but she has an extra large heart! Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!Adoption processA potential adopter will submit a application. A vet reference is very helpful and will speed the adoption process along. Once approved, a phone interview will be conducted and the adopter will sign a contract. Transport will then be scheduled to bring the new pet home.Shelter locationThe majority of our dogs/cats are fostered in Alabama. We have wonderful foster families that contact all applicants to answer any additional questions or provide more photos and videos. Once a application is approved our dogs/cats are transported north to their new families. We use a private transport that is USDA certified and Licensed. All dogs are fully vetted and will travel with a Alabama Health Certificate and their medical records. We are a 501C3 rescue. We can offer references upon request.
