*** Iandamp;#39;ve got a video starring ME for you to watch! To see me in action, click through my pictures, and youandamp;#39;ll find it there! ***andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Have you ever felt unwanted or unloved? Perhaps in school when no one picked you for the kickball team and you felt embarrassed? Nobody wanting to sit by you on the bus? Hi, Iandamp;#39;m Lucas, and I totally understand how sad you probably felt in those moments. I happen to be the longest term dog at the shelter right now. Sigh. Nobody wants me, and for the life of me, what am I doing wrong? Iandamp;#39;m actually the most overlooked boy who actually has the most to give. My best friends here are trying to make sense of it all. They see all the goodness in me, all the love, all the devotion that I have inside me. I wait for them to visit me each day. They have helped me continue to have hope about a family. They make me feel good about myself - I feel loved and wanted again, and it lifts my spirits. I even am lucky enough to spend a lot of my time in a staff memberandamp;#39;s office during the day so Iandamp;#39;m out of my kennel which is a huge relief. I get to snuggle in and snooze, playing with my toys and being the best boy on the planet. My friends understand the stress of kennel life and what a toll all the waiting for an adoption can take on a dog. Their hearts hurt when they see me get overlooked day after day.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Somehow the kind hearted, loving dog that my friends know never translates in the handful of meet and greets Iandamp;#39;ve had since I first came to the shelter in January 2023. Yes, I always show how sweet, handsome and very friendly I am. I lean in for pets with potential adopters, and Iandamp;#39;ll even grab a toy in the hopes that we can play fetch. The potential adopters are all told that Iandamp;#39;m house trained, kennel trained, that Iandamp;#39;m very playful, I love to do zoomies, and that I love snuggles and being a couch potato. For a few brief minutes, Iandamp;#39;m the center of attention, and it makes my heart sing! I try so hard, but nothing I do seems to matter. I never get chosen to be someoneandamp;#39;s dog. My friends try to help me through and tell me that Iandamp;#39;m waiting for that special someone to come, but it really doesnandamp;#39;t make it any easier. andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Do I know why I canandamp;#39;t get a home? Nope, it doesnandamp;#39;t make sense to me, especially when my friends who know me have such unwavering love and devotion for me. Could I get overlooked because Iandamp;#39;m big and strong, so maybe that is too much of a challenge for adopters? I can sometimes be too interested in squirrels or rabbits on a walk (I mean seriously, most dogs are, right?), but Iandamp;#39;m learning how to control those impulses. We all have something that we are challenged by and need to work on. And Iandamp;#39;m so willing to put in the work. Each day Iandamp;#39;m a day older and a day wiser. I just donandamp;#39;t understand why no one wants me.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;I will never stop trying to be the best dog I can be. Iandamp;#39;ve got a very big heart and an even bigger eagerness to please. I received my basic training from Puppies for Parole, and I have a bunch of tricks up my sleeve that I canandamp;#39;t wait to show you. Due to my excitement at seeing squirrels, the staff at Great Plains SPCA doesnandamp;#39;t recommend that I live with cats. Which is totally fine with me if itandamp;#39;s fine with you! Honestly, I would prefer to be your one and only if you donandamp;#39;t mind. Iandamp;#39;ve met lots of different dogs at the shelter, and donandamp;#39;t get me wrong, I was friends with a few. But I would much rather spend my days with just my human family. andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Have you been wanting a dog for awhile now but have been waiting for that special boy you can rescue and offer a lifetime of love? I would be that very boy, and I have waited and waited for you to find me. I will brighten your days and devote my life to making you happy. Please come and finally give me my happily ever after.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Love from Lucasandlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Adoption processHours: Monday - Tuesday (by appointment only) | 11 am - 6 pmWednesday - Friday | 12 pm - 7 pmSaturday - Sunday | 11am - 7pm Please note that we operate by first come, first serve along with adoption approval.
