It has taken time to put a few pounds on her and teach her to trust humans Reason for being in rescue: breeder release. Amish puppy mill survivor Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Gabby has been spayed, had her teeth cleaned, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested and is ready to go Weight: 38 lbs - she is hard to get weight on. She needs to be about 45. She is so active, she runs all her weight off Height: 24 in at the shoulder est Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Gabriella loves to run and to romp and to play. She requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. She does not jump 4' and is happy romping in her own yard. Walks are not enough for this active, happy girl. What kind of home would be best for me? Sweet Gabriella (Gabby is her nickname) is happy, bouncy and looking for a home that will take the work socializing her that we have done and expanding on it. She is now comfortable at home and is now ready to see the world. She has little experience outside of our home so her new home will need to understand that dogs are situational. Gabby's world has been small up to now - first an Amish farm in Ohio and then a poodle farm in South Carolina. She is ready now to take on the world. The best gift you can give Gabby will be patience. She will be shy at first and will need time to adjust to you. She must have a fenced in yard without exception. Dog parks or leash walks will not be enough for this girl. We have no doubt this strikingly beautiful girl will one day be a perfect family pet. Because she is breeder surrender and everything is a new experience for her, she would do better in a home with children about 10-years-old or older, a calmer environment. She also must have another canine companion in her home. Gabriella would love to have one of her humans at home with her most of the time because when she's done playing there's nothing she loves more than snuggle time with her human. She is always at foster mom or foster dad's feet. In her foster home now, she has human and dog companionship for the vast majority of every day. Gabby has never met a cat except the barn cats. These she thinks are fun to chase. What is my personality like? Beautiful Gabriella has a unique look with one half of one eye blue eye and one brown eye, a trait common in huskies, but not poodles. It adds to her allure. She will not run up to you for loving pets when first meeting but after you are her bestie, she hits you with the full force of her love and excitement that you are home. We always do a quick run around the yard on arriving home because Gabby is so happy to see us, she has to get her energy out by a quick zoomie. Gabby warms up quite quickly to new people - it's a matter of a few days, not months, especially if her canine buddy says it's okay. She loves other dogs and can be a bit forceful when playing with large dogs so her large dog friend needs to be one that loves wrestling and running. She is also very good with little dogs and gives them appropriate space. We are not sure how she will do with cats. There is one thing about Gabby you definitely need to know. Gabby is an early riser. She is up and about by 6:30 every morning and she fully expects you to be up and about with her. Once Gabby is up she is enthusiastically up and ready to take on her day. She is the happiest girl in the morning and welcomes every single day with enthusiasm and her whole heart. Gabby is simply happy to be alive. Gabby is NOT crate trained. Her foster family allows her free run of the house and she is good in the house. Gabby absolutely has to sleep in the bedroom with you and she is happiest on a dog bed next to her fav person. Gabby does not chew and stays out of the trash but boy she can counter surf. We correct her regularly but she is really happy about food, so we'd keep things back on your counter. Foster mom has lost more than one hard-boiled egg by walking away from the kitchen counter during breakfast. How do I act when I first meet new people? Gabriella is a tad timid and shy when first meeting. Please understand, this is not her true self. Give her time and your patience will pay off. A calm approach toward her and she'll be nuzzling up against you for pets, ear scratches and chin scratches, her favorite! You know you've won her over when she calmly lies next to you to luxuriate in even more pets from you. Gabriella wants to know if you have room for her on your couch and in your heart. Other tips and tidbits: Our vet estimates that Gabriella was born on or about 1/5/2021. Gabby has a luxurious natural tail - full and curled over her back. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.
