“Mop” was sitting at animal control a few weeks ago. A scared stray that would not allow anyone near him. He was afraid, fearful and would nip to keep people way. His stray hold was up, no one came for him and he did not pass the behavior test at the local shelter. “Mop” or 59314 needed rescue or he wasn’t not going to make it out. Three days in the shelter he started coming around. He could be placed on a slip lead and walked to the play yard. But that morning he was walked to the lobby where he met the crazy rescue lady. She got down low to pet him and with hair covering his eyes, he flinched when he noticed a hand coming towards his face. A little slower this time, she went to scratch his bottom to find giant mats all over his body. Mats pull at the skin making things very uncomfortable. He slipped on the floor as he waked with those grinch slipper feet. But walked out the door with his foster mom. Later that day he would get a bath and have 90 percent of the mats removed. Having the hair removed from his eyes, he was a little more prepared when someone came to pet him. That first day could have been his first day in the crate. He anxiously barked and cried trying desperately to get out. Leash walking was scary and often times he would pull away and alligator crawl. Other dogs barking was terrifying. But time and patience was what he needed and that is what he got. He was free as a bird playing outside but a different dog inside the home. It would take a few days before he was gifted his name of Sabastian. And a few more days after that before he would be ready to meet a few furry friends. Sebastian has now been in rescue just under a month. He goes into his crate with ease and will calmly hang out while foster mom is at work and overnight. He spends his days running in the yard and playing with a few of the furry friends in the house. He has been introduced to the tv and couch and enjoys cuddling up to watch tv. Things inside the house are still very new and exciting and with less anxiety and more confidence he is enjoying being able to explore all the things a home has to offer. He is available for adoption, but comes with some baggage. He will need someone who will give him time to destress/decompress and slowly unpack his bags. Sebastian is 1-2years old about 25-30lbs possibly a terrier mix maybe a doddle of some sort… vet is thinking Cocker mix so would that make him a cocka-doodle??? (I am aware they are called cockapoos) I call those mixed breeds always, and those are just guesses. I cannot guarantee hypoallergenics, but I can guarantee you will be at the groomers every 4-6 weeks and brushing between visits. We have our first professional groomers on Thursday. Trying out someone new who loves rescue pups!!! At the moment, he is rocking the rescue cut! Crate trained, leash walking and house training are still in progress. Will not poop on leash so would need a fenced in area to potty in and with that being the space he feels the safest in, much of your begining bonding will probably happen outside. Good with other dogs but would do best with slow introduction and to meet his new furry companions ahead of time.
