What a remarkable and heartwarming rescue dog Sheldon is! He was dumped at a gas station by his people where he relied on the kindness of the clerks and customers to feed him. At night he took shelter behind the dumpster or under a dirt cave. His days were occupied by searching and scavenging for food to stay alive. When we became aware of his situation we knew we had to do something. We weren't sure what to expect but when a volunteer went out to catch him, Sheldon simply jumped in the car and went home with her. No fuss, no growling, no fear. He understand we were there to help. The first night Sheldon slept for about 12 hours without waking. He was so emaciated and exhausted. He met his foster mom with tail ways and gently accepted hot dogs, food and treats. When she walked the other dogs nearby he wagged his tail. He has been a very grateful house guest. When we took Sheldon to the vet we learned he is heart worm positive. His treatment will be covered by the rescuce and involved 3 vet vists over a 2-3 month time frame.
