*This is a courtesy listing.* Meet Rosie! 10-year-old Rosie is an affectionate, playful, athletic girl whose two favorite things in the world are belly rubs and playing fetch. She would love a house with a fenced yard that's big enough to chase a ball. Rosie doesn't guard her food or toys from people and rarely begs for food, but she LOVES attention, and is perfectly happy to lie underneath the table while you're eating dinner so you can scratch her tummy with your foot. She warms up quickly to strangers who visit, especially if they're willing to give her toy a few tosses. Rosie is very smart and learns quickly; she knows sit, down, stay, come, heel, and settle. Like most intelligent dogs and herding breeds, she does well with structure. Rosie has never been around children or cats, and would do best in a home as the only pet. Rosie was found on the side of the road in Texas as a puppy, and her first home was a very abusive situation. This led to her developing dog-related aggressive behaviors on leash as well as territorial hypervigilance. After being rescued again, her family managed her training and environment with help from a veterinary behaviorist for 9 years. Unfortunately, Rosie's mom has developed dementia and let Rosie outside the house off-leash. Rosie got in a fight with a neighborhood dog, during which the other owner's hand was bitten severely. Up until this point, Rosie had never been involved in an incident where a human had been bitten, and had never been involved in a conflict with another dog before this year that required veterinary attention. Her owners will no longer be able to keep Rosie, and they need to find her a home where she can be safe, secure, and loved.
