Emerald or "Emmie" is looking for her forever home! Emerald was born with a heart defect, but it does not slow her down! In fact, we would really love to see her go to an active family with another friendly and playful dog.Emmie has been exposed to kids from 2-8 and dogs of all sizes and ages. She is mostly housebroken with only the occasional accident, crate trained, and knows a few commands. She will need additional socialization and obedience training but is very smart and loves to play!We are currently looking to place Emmie in a foster to adopt situation due to her heart condition. She is currently scheduled to have heart surgery in June, which would be covered under VOCAL. However, it is possible that as she grows, she will not need surgery and grow out of her condition. Emerald currently has NO restrictions and has not displayed any signs of her heart affecting her quality of life. We are hoping to find an adopter who lives within an hour of Marion County so we can continue to handle all of her medical care until she is officially adopted. Needs another dog to play with.
