Hazel is a lovable 2-year-old beagle mix with a heart as big as her love for naps! This laid-back pup is the epitome of a couch potato, and she wouldn't have it any other way. Despite her lazy tendencies, Hazel is a sweetheart through and through. She gets along famously with other dogs and is already housetrained, making her a breeze to have around the house. Her favorite pastimes include taking long naps and getting plenty of cuddles from her favorite humans. If you're looking for a low-key companion who enjoys the simple pleasures of life, Hazel is the perfect match for you. With her gentle demeanor and affectionate nature, she'll bring warmth and joy to your home every day. When she arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from our partner shelter in Oklahoma, Hazel tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm positive dogs like Hazel to be while going through treatments and recovering is with a loving and forever family like yours. If you choose to adopt her, the clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The process from detection to the final treatment is generally three months and involves some simple at-home steps to keep me safe while she recovers. The last step in the process is a follow-up test six months after her treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful and the staff anticipates that she will fully recover! Yeah! And you should know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives.
