Description:

Beagle Mix Dog for Adoption in Kennesaw, Georgia, 30144 USNickname: Tabitha Posted Breed: Beagle / Mixed. LOOKING FOR A NICE CALM FAMILY: Approx. 2 years old / Approx. 22 lbs. Hi, I’m Tabitha! I came from a situation where there were just too many dogs in a home, and we needed some help. Thankfully, Mostly Mutts was able to answer the call for assistance and I was able to spend a month in a great foster home learning and getting used to a stable environment! I’m excited and ready to find my very own family to love and be loved by! I’m currently in the prison/foster training program offsite and learning a lot! Please inquire at 770-272-XXXX to find out when I’m available to meet. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I came in with other dogs that I liked; however, we learned that I should not live with other dogs as I want the toys and dog beds just for myself. I will guard my items and have growled and snapped when I think another dog is too close, so I should be your only dog. On my walks, I do not react to other dogs that I see from a distance, just when they are close, or my belongings are involved. / There were two cats in my foster home whom I tried to chase the first time I saw them, out of curiosity of course, oops! However, I quickly gained respect for them and their boundaries, to the point that my foster says I’m now ‘great with the cat!’, so if you have a dog-friendly or dog-tolerant kitty at home, let’s meet. / I have become stressed when I see kids playing from a distance, so a quiet home without kids or perhaps mature kids 15 and older would be best and let’s meet. This includes kids that may come into my home to visit, such as grandkids, etc. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My former fosters knew just what to do when I went home with them to make me feel comfortable. Initially they were quiet and just let me think and make sense of my new space and they only engaged with me when I initiated, which made me feel very safe. The first 3 days, I just wanted to stay in a nice dog bed in the living room (of course they took me out to potty and spent time in the room too), but by the end of day 3 I started venturing around the home. It is a smaller type of home which I personally like. By the evening of day 4, I wanted to sleep in the same room as my fosters and on day 6, I was comfortable venturing into the other various rooms within the 1 story home without having them in sight. I’ve been here a few weeks now and I like being petted, tummy rubs, little kisses on the head, nestling up to them and laying on them! I respond very well to positive reinforcement and the best thing is that I wag my tail now when I see my foster! They gave me time and patience to figure things out and I’ve come a long way and am transforming into a more confident pup. My trainer and foster will be happy to share with my adopter how to help me be successful in my new home. / My energy level is currently 4 – 6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and can't wait to learn lots of new skills with my trainer! So far, I have learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘down’, and ‘place’ commands as well as walk nicely on a leash. I look forward to learning even more. In my foster home, whenever I encountered something new on a walk, my foster would let me stand and watch for a while so I could make sense of it and then we continued on our way. I’ve embraced being a Beagle by enjoying all the sniffs on my walks. I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site working on gaining confidence and managing some separation anxiety I’ve been experiencing. / In the foster home I didn’t like being in a crate and could break out of it, which can be dangerous to me, so my foster gates me in my favorite room when they left, and I did very well with that. / My foster didn’t have a yard, so we went out on a leash to potty, and I did well with that! My potty habits are also good on the prison/foster training program schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too! • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love soft dog beds with supportive edges that I can rest my head on. I have a newfound love of Benebones and soft squeaky toys, and once I’m comfortable with my people, I greatly enjoy being with them! Food and treats are a good way to help me trust you as I sure like them. And I like it when you talk to me with a "dog voice" -lol. I also love going for walks with my people, and spending time outside. / I don’t want to be rushed into new relationships or situations, so give me some time and space to figure things out please. I also still get frightened by sudden or unexpected movements and prefer that only people I have a relationship with to place their hands near my head. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I recently started a medication to help with some general and separation anxiety I’ve been experiencing. I may no longer need this once I am settled into my new home. If you’re a Beagle loving family and have extra time to help me settle in, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
