Ely, Terrier (unknown Type, Medium) For Adoption In Randolph, New Jersey
Location:
Randolph, NJ
Description:
Hi Everyone! My name is Eli! I am a happy, playful pup! My foster mom tells me I am a Special Needs Pup! I know I am a special boy I but not sure why she calls me Special Needs Pup. Maybe it is because I have to be fed differently. Other than that I am a silly, goofy boy! I love toys, playing with the foster children, playing with other dogs and I love cuddles!! Here is my story- My siblings and his mom and I were dropped off at an overpopulated shelter in NC. Furever Home Dog Rescue transported us to NJ to live in foster homes until twe found our furever homes. I am happy to say we were all adopted. After about a month and a half, my family reluctantly surrendered me back to FHDR because I was vomiting multiple times a day in their home. My foster family loved me so much that they welcomed me back into their home with their three young children. After medical tests were done by vets, I was diagnosed with Megaesophagus. I am now doing good since I am on a special diet, fed smaller meals throughout the day and is being fed upright in a Bailey chair. I know how to get into the Bailey chair all by myself! It’s fun! Since I am still a puppy,so there is a chance I could grow out of this condition as I get older and bigger. Either way, my future is bright and I am looking for a loving home that will continue to spoil me with love and attention! When suffering from megaesophagus, food gets stuck in the dog's esophagus rather than traveling to the stomach. Dogs with megaesophagus can live happy lives. The most important change that you will have to make to manage megaesophagus is to feed the dog while standing vertically. They need gravity to help them get the food to their stomach. This means that they will need a high chair, a Bailey Chair or something that props them upright when they eat. If you can train your dog to sit up on his hind legs, as if begging, when he eats, this would work as well. The dog must remain upright for at least 10 minutes after eating, to ensure that the food travels all the way through the esophagus. I am about 7 months old, neutered, up to date on vetting and micro chipped. I love playing with toys, other dogs and running around the yard. My favorite activity is to be right by your side and to sit in your lap and cuddle. I know I am loved more than words can say by my foster family and by the rescue. And, I know I will make one family incredibly happy when they welcome me into their home. Everyone says once you meet me, you will fall in love! Eli is hoping you have a furever home for him! Please email XXXX@gmail.com. The breed and age of this pet is listed as is our best guess. We have no background info on who the mom and dad are. Please note we do not adopt puppies/dogs to homes where they will be left alone all day. We do not have a shelter facility you can visit. Our volunteers foster the dogs and pups in their homes once they have been vetted and transported here to NJ. Please read our homepage to read how the adoption process works. And, to read our many reviews - www.FureverHomeDogRescue.com. Thank you!Adoption processIf you see a pup that you are interested in adopting, please email us at XXXX@att.net.com & ask for an adoption application. All applicants must be at least 24 years old AND they must be the head of household. Renters are welcome as long as dogs are allowed by their landlords. Please note we do not adopt puppies/dogs to homes where they will be alone all day. Upon completion and review, if application meets our requirements, we contact you to discuss the dog and arrange a home visit. Appointments for meet and greets of the dog will only be set after an adoption application has been completed and reviewed. The adoption process can take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks upon receipt of your application. Please understand an application does not guarantee an adoption. If the adoption application is approved, we will set up a meet and greet. The applicant will have the opportunity to meet the dog and ask the foster questions about the dog. If everyone thinks the adoption is a good fit, the adoption will be finalized. The adopter will be required to sign an adoption agreement and a spay/neuter agreement (if dog is under 6 months old).
