From Foster Mom:I would describe Martha as a beautiful work in progress. Martha is learning how to be a dog. Like a lot of dogs with her background, Martha is more comfortable with dogs than she is people. She wants to be more comfortable and is working very hard to get over her fear so that she can enjoy the scratches. She is still very timid about getting pets and snuggles, but she watches you closely and will follow you around. When she sees a yummy treat in foster mom's hands, she has learned to be brave and come close to get it, or sniff fingers when her foster siblings are getting pets and scratches. Martha enjoys bones and loves her food and treats. She wants to lay near you while she enjoys her favorite things. She is crate trained and potty trained. Martha will need a home where there are other small dogs. She will need to be in a home with only older teenaged children, or no children. Martha doesn’t like to be picked up, will run from you to avoid it, and special care has to be used to keep her from panicking when you have to. Over time, she will get more accustomed, but she needs to learn to trust you. Martha is super sweet but will need somebody that is willing to be patient with her because she is a work in progress.
