My name is Misti and I’m 5 years old and I’m looking for my forever home. I’ll tell you my secret: I am a Princess! I came to SIRA from a commercial breeding facility where I worked hard making puppies. The conditions were dire - unsuitable for a Princess. But SIRA was alerted and brought me to my foster home here in Auburn, MI. Circumstances here are much better – more befitting a Princess who should be adored. There are boy dogs here in my foster home and they amuse and entertain me and we enjoy frolicking together. Living with humans takes some adjustment though, especially when they move around so quickly and make so much noise! Unacceptable. Therefore, before I have the chance to get to know humans, I require that they keep their proper distance. If I would like attention, I will come forward at the appropriate time and place, but not permit them to approach me without consent. Once I’ve decided that a human is trustworthy, then I will permit them to lavish me with attention and affection at the times when I desire it. I especially enjoy having a human stroke my luxurious thick golden fur or perhaps recline against them for cuddles – ahem – I mean warmth and companionship. There are other entertainments here that I enjoy, such as chew bones, that help me pass the time. I am the picture of health – spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. I weigh a petite 18 pounds. When I first arrived in St. Louis, my body bore the scars of my forced labor. My left knee may still have some arthritis, but after taking medication for a time, it no longer troubles me. I require that my forever humans have a gentle temperament and deep care and regard for my delicate sensibilities. In return, I will provide my humans with nothing but proper behavior and the un-ending pleasure of my presence. Another kind dog to provide amusement and companionship would be desirable. I am not acquainted with tiny humans nor cats, so I can not say whether those would be acceptable or not. A securely fenced yard in which to promenade would be quite nice. Soft places to rest my head, delicacies to eat, and chew toys to amuse me are the small luxuries that I require.
