Sweet Shirley is an older gal whose perfect day starts with chasing squirrels in the yard, followed promptly by a nap directly in a sunbeam. Shirley is an affectionate, sweet and happy dog. She is friendly and occasionally playful-- mostly, she has a low to moderate energy level. She loves walks and car rides as well as cuddles on the couch. Shirley will happily nap on the couch all day if you let her. She is as easy as they come! Oh, did we mention she is housebroken, too!Shirley can be picky about her dog friends, so if you have a resident dog, they will need to meet before the adoption process is complete. Here is what one of our volunteers had to say about her: "Shirley was able to stay with us for the thanksgiving holiday. She is an absolute dream dog and would be a fantastic addition to any family! She is lovable and friendly, approaches everyone with kisses and wiggles. Don't let her age fool you - she acts like a much younger dog! She loves walks and can walk well on leash, easily redirected when needed. She is fully housetrained, and knows "sit" "wait" and "leave it" Shirley's favorite activity after chewing her bones and going for a walk is cuddling on the couch! She doesn't mind what you watch, as long as she has a comfy spot. She has a big personality and a lot of love to give. She has bursts of energy but is mostly very low-key.
